A série de imagens produzidas pela fotógrafa Melissa Warwick no interior de Sergipe ilustra hoje um livro que tem como objetivo promover o resgate do saber fazer de antigos alimentos que povoavam as mesas dos sergipanos do campo. Uma velha dieta cotidiana, intrinsicamente ligada à terra, que se fazia presente, inclusive na capital. Ao longo de um ano de viagens, três mulheres - uma jornalista, uma chef de cozinha e uma fotógrafa - ouviram historias e através delas, viveram outras, as suas próprias. Pesquisaram por todo o estado, catalogando diversos tipos de alimentos suas formas de cultivá-los e maneiras sergipanas de pô-los à mesa. Nascia então o projeto Panela Sergipana: sabores das terras de araras e cajus, contemplado em 2019 pelo Edital Rumos Itaú Cultural.

The series of images produced by photographer Melissa Warwick in the interior of Sergipe now illustrates a book aimed at promoting the rescue of the knowledge of preparing ancient foods that populated the tables of rural Sergipanos. An old daily diet, intrinsically linked to the land, which was present, even in the capital. Over a year of travel, three women - a journalist, a chef, and a photographer - listened to stories and through them, lived others, their own. They researched throughout the state, cataloging various types of food, their ways of cultivating them, and Sergipano ways of serving them. Thus was born the Panela Sergipana* project: flavors from the lands of macaws and cashews, awarded in 2019 by the Rumos Itaú Cultural Call.
